Cutting A Medium Density Fiberboard Using MDF Cutter Machine

August 26, 2024

The medium-density board is made of resin, wax, and wood fiber. It is an engineered and versatile material that is suitable for building and other uses. MDF is strong, durable, and affordable. The board is made from soft or hardwood residuals pressed under high temperatures and combined with resin binder and wax.

MDF can therefore be used for flooring, making cabinet shelves, furniture, or decorative projects. It can also be used to make theater set construction, tradeshow booths, wainscoting, and speaker boxes. The board comes in 1-inch or ¼ inch thickness, so it requires an MDF cutter Machine if you want to engrave or cut it.

With an MDF Cutter Machine, you will be able to accentuate and cut the medium-density fiberboard to your preferred sizes. One of the tools you need to cut the material is the laser-driven MDF cutting machine. It cuts the edges effortlessly and can engrave beautiful designs on the board. Continue reading to see how you can use the MDF Cutter Machine.

Power Setting the MDF Cutter Machine

MDF laser cutting machine is specified by its power wattage. Thus, a machine with a higher wattage has more power and is quite efficient. When set at full power, you optimize its cutting efficiency. It makes the machine cut more pieces in a shorter period. However, if you want to mark a logo or engrave the surface, you must reduce the power by adjusting its PWM (pulsing frequency). The frequency ranges from 100 – 50,000Hz. But for optimal performance, choose a range of 3800-5000Hz.

Speed

When you cut the MDF, choosing the highest speed does not just save time but guarantees you quality results. Also, when you cut at high speed, you reduce the chances of burning or ending up with dark char. Typically, burnings and dark char are associated with cutting at a lower speed. However, when you choose to engrave at a faster speed, the machine produces more smoke and fumes. Thus, ensure to enable the engraving vacuum if you want to get good results.

The Vacuum

Whether you will be cutting the MDF materials at high speed or low speed, the lasering process generates considerable smoke. Therefore, you need to check the vacuum system and ensure it runs optimally. Also, hold the sheet using powerful suction to reduce play. In addition, seal any open parts of the honeycomb to ensure optimal vacuuming.

 Focus

Adjust the lens assembly to the right focusing position. It focuses on the lens assembly and allows you to cut the MDF using the thinnest width.

 Air

If you want to get good results from the MDF cutter machine, ensure to use a good amount of assist air when engraving or cutting. Check out the air elbow and confirm that the lens assembly permits a steady flow of air through the nozzle during the cutting or engraving process.

Of course, there are many more things you should keep in mind when using MDF Cutter Machine; however, choosing the correct power setting, ensuring that the vacuum is on, and allowing enough air to flow in the nozzle can guarantee you better results.
